The Spirituality of Jane Austen with Revd. Paula Hollingsworth at Bath Abbey

Opening Times

Season (10 Apr 2025)

About

Join Bath Abbey for an insightful evening with Revd Paula Hollingsworth as she delves into the deeper themes of Jane Austen’s novels. Jane Austen is not an overtly Christian writer, but her profound faith runs through her novels, subtly revealing their essence. Paula Hollingsworth says that her themes are not, as is generally thought, romance and marriage, but virtue, wisdom, and inner depth. Paula will explore how Austen’s life experiences, including her suffering, shaped her faith and writing.

The evening will also include a Q&A session and an exclusive after-hours viewing of the ‘Austens at the Abbey’ exhibition.

Revd Paula Hollingsworth is the Chaplain at St Paul’s Cathedral and author of The Spirituality of Jane Austen.

Signed copies of Paula Hollingsworth’s book are available to order in advance.
