Please remember face coverings are compulsory in shops, on public transport, and in most public indoor venues, such as cinemas, theatres and places of worship.
Bath looks as photogenic as ever at Christmas time. The city is dressed head to toe in festive finery: glimmering lights hang over the pretty streets; eye-catching illuminations shine on iconic buildings and landmarks; and exquisite decorations adorn shops and stalls.
All of this makes Bath the perfect backdrop for a Christmas selfie or snap for your Insta grid. We’ve rounded up some of the best spots for festive photos this year – show us which you capture by using the #BathAtChristmas hashtag.
Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon at Bath Abbey
Sure to be one of the most photographed sights in Bath this Christmas, Luke Jerram’s seven-metre moon sculpture perfectly complements the awe-inspiring architecture of Bath Abbey, where it’s on display until Boxing Day.
The Abbey Churchyard Christmas Tree
Step outside Bath Abbey and you’re greeted with this year’s giant fir draped in twinkly lights. Depending on where you stand, you can get a selfie with the tree and the Abbey or the entrance to the Roman Baths in the background.
The Victorian Carousel on Stall Street
In town until New Year’s Eve, you may hear the traditional jolly tunes playing out from the Victorian carousel before you see it. When you do set eyes on the bright lights and colourful vintage-style hobby horses, you’ll be snapping away in no time.

Festive Décor at Milsom Place
Spot a magical vision from the wintry world of Narnia at Milsom Place – sure to spark some nostalgia in fans of the books and films. Just follow the paw prints to find it.

The rest of Milsom Place is also looking fabulously festive, with lots of snazzy decorations to point your camera at. We particularly love The Ivy Bath Brasserie’s spectacular red and gold doorway décor!
The rest of Milsom Street is just as Instagrammable, aglow with illuminations as part of the Bath Christmas Light Trail and beautiful lights stretching across the grand thoroughfare.
York Street
Get snap happy on York Street. With Bath Abbey in the background and Christmas stalls lining the road (there’s also a market inside 44AD Artspace until 19th December), it’s a typically festive Bath scene. We love how the decorative stone arch frames this shot by local photographer Chloe Moore.
Green Street
With a fantastic view of St Michael’s Church, this side street is always a photo-worthy spot, but especially at Christmas time when illuminated by pretty lights.
SouthGate Shopping Area
In between Christmas shopping, pose for a picture on the Selfie Sleigh in the SouthGate complex, made all the more magical by a sprinkling of snow every hour, on the hour.

Bath on Ice at Royal Victoria Park
A corner of Royal Victoria Park is transformed into a winter wonderland for Bath on Ice, complete with 1000 square metres of smooth ice and atmospheric glowing lights. Hone your skating skills and ask a friend to capture a photo of you in action.

The Enchanted Garden of Light at American Museum & Gardens
Enter a world of enchantment with ample opportunities for a festive selfie at the American Museum and Gardens in Claverton. Their illumination trail features spectacular light displays in seasonal colours across the house, garden and woodland, with sparkling reindeer guiding the way.
