About
Fukuoka, located in the south of Japan, is home to a variety of nationally recognised crafts and agricultural traditions – from ceramics and textiles to tea and incense.
From February, MEAA will be showing a selection of objects and textiles from the region. Alongside the display, they’ll be hosting a series of tea-related talks and events with Comins Tea, to deepen the understanding and appreciation of tea, tradition, and making from this region.
The Tea and Crafts of Fukuoka, 5 March, 6:30pm
Comins Tea will discuss their project with Fukuoka Prefecture, exploring the rituals and crafts surrounding tea in the region. Hear from Michelle about Comins' partnership with Fukuoka and the tea makers and craftspeople they met there. The crafts and techniques they use have been passed down for generations but remain a very much alive art. Learn more about these incredible skills and the beautiful objects created from them with this online talk. Pay What You Can: £5, £2, Free. Tickets
