About

Westonbirt Arboretum is delighted to welcome artist and children's author Pippa Pixley as we delve into the art of mud.

Become a mud painter, and create a beautiful dorodango (shiny mud sphere).

Discover more about the soils of the arboretum, and take part in a quiz challenge.

Pippa is an author and artist based in the Peak District National Park, an experienced storyteller, illustrator, designer and writer. She has worked with many schools, arts organizations, museums, conservation trusts, publishers and universities delivering education programmes focused on literacy or the creative arts to help children, students and families to develop an awareness of the wonders of the natural world and the power of imagination.

Whilst you are here, make sure to explore the Green Games summer family trail in the Old Arboretum too!

Suitable for children aged 3+

This activity takes place in the Great Oak Hall

No dogs allowed (except for assistance dogs)

Suitable clothing for exploring is recommended.
