About

Make the most of May half term with a family day out at The American Museum & Gardens, where there’s plenty of space to play, places to unwind, and activities to enjoy together. Visitors can wander through gardens bursting with new blooms, take in beautiful valley views, and let little ones explore the much-loved children’s play area.

From Monday to Friday, families are invited to join the Craft & Build sessions in the Coach House. These include hands-on creative activities, as well as big play building sessions in the Maple Room, featuring a wide range of building blocks for all ages—from larger bricks for younger children to smaller construction pieces for more detailed creations. For those seeking a quieter experience, the Mulberry Room offers relaxed crafting in a calm setting.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day:

  • Meet Charlie Chipmunk, who brings history to life on the free America 250 interactive family trail
  • Explore the colourful Kith & Kin: The Quilts of Gee’s Bend exhibition, complete with fuzzy felt activities
  • Head out on woodland walk adventures
  • Enjoy climb-and-slide fun in the Children’s Garden

Visitors can also treat themselves to something delicious at the American Garden Deli, or bring a picnic and make the most of a full day outdoors in the fresh air.
