About

Peace Doves is a mass participation artwork by Peter Walker. Thousands of handmade paper doves containing messages of peace, love, hope and friendship will be suspended in an illuminated installation in the crossing of the Abbey.
For Christians, the dove is a powerful symbol of God's love and hope.
It was the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove that descended upon Jesus at his baptism; it was a dove which returned to Noah in the ark with an olive branch to show that the flood was over and there was new life.
Peter Walker's installation will echo these themes of love and hope.
Family Craft Days: Create for Peace will be held during half term on Thursday 30 October and Saturday 1 November.
