About

Join OAK Restaurant for a vibrant and hands-on afternoon celebrating the art of pickling in the beautiful setting of OAK Restaurant’s Market Garden. Led by renowned fermenter and food writer for River Cottage, Rachel de Thample. This workshop will guide you through the basics of pickling—teaching you how to preserve seasonal produce using techniques that are as delicious as they are sustainable.

Alongside Rachel’s practical session, OAK’s head gardener, Elsie, will be sharing her expert advice on what to grow specifically for pickling, from classic cucumbers to unexpected garden gems. You’ll gain inspiration for your own planting and preserving, just in time for the peak of the harvest season.

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon with tea, coffee, and homemade cake provided by OAK, and take home your own jar of pickled produce plus the knowledge to continue fermenting at home.

Rachel will also have copies of her new book, Fermentation: River Cottage Handbook No.18.

Whether you're a keen gardener, a food enthusiast, or simply curious about preserving, this workshop is a perfect way to connect with the land and your food.
