Bath's historic venues and beautiful buildings will play host to a multitude of festive events this season , so you've got more reasons than ever to visit Bath at Christmas!
The Bath Christmas Market will return from Thursday 27 November to Sunday 14 December 2025. Explore over 200 chalets spread out across Bath’s picturesque Georgian streets, among some of the city's top independent shops, cafes and bars.
Top Chrismas events in Bath
Explore The Roman Baths, where you can enjoy a drink from their pop-up bar every weekend, and find Roman-inspired gifts in the museum shop, or watch a traditional Christmas pantomime in The Further Adventures of Peter Pan at Theatre Royal Bath!
Bath on Ice is back in Royal Victoria Park, with 1000 square metres of smooth ice for you to glide around to the sound of festive tunes. As well as the ice rink, there's also glow golf and a cozy alpine bar serving seasonal food and drink.
Warm up after taking in the Christmas lights and shopping in Bath with a mulled wine and live jazz at Green Park Brasserie, book in for a festive afternoon tea at one of Bath's tearooms or hotels, or visit Bath Abbey for one of their Advent and festive events.
Festive family activities
Many of Bath's top attractions have special family-friendly events over the festive period. Children and young people under the age of 16 can travel for free on buses across the city and surrounding area during the school holidays, from 20 December to 4 January.
Have breakfast with the naughty elves at The Ivy Bath Brasserie, decorate your own Christmas biscuits at The Cookery Studio, make a snow and stars collage at Herschel Museum of Astronomy, or find some of the mischievous creatures featured Aesop's Fables at No.1 Royal Crescent.
There are also plenty of opportunities for little ones to meet Father Christmas, from seeing him in his grotto at The Holburne Museum or No.1 Royal Crescent, to the Santa Specials at Avon Valley Railway.
Fun days out this Christmas
Winter Wonderland at Wookey Hole has several Christmas experiences wrapped up into one magical day out, including 100,000 Christmas lights adorning the caves, a visit to Santa's North Pole Grotto, and a Christmas-themed circus show.
Wow the whole family with a trip to Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum, where you can explore a brand-new festive light trail, inspired by the natural world and festive themes. There's also the Stick Man Christmas trail if you're visiting during the day.
National Trust properties Dyrham Park and Prior Park just outside Bath are full of warmth and sparkle, with everything from craft workshops and family trails to winter lights and visits from Father Christmas.
Other magical festive days out near Bath include a light trail and Santa show at Avon Valley Adventure Park, Christmas Illuminations at The Bishop's Palace, and The Festival of Light at Longleat.
