About
Using the beautiful grounds of Forestry England's Westonbirt, The National Arboretum's, and guided by botanical artist and illustrator Katherine O'Shea, families of all ages are invited to come together and explore the Secret World of Flowers through mindful observation and journalling.
This workshop takes place in the Learning Centre and is suitable for any age. Pop in during your visit - this is the perfect opportunity for each generation to spend some time getting creative as a group.
You will start by creating your own journals from a range of different papers and recycled materials, with guidance from Katherine. Once you have put together your unique books, you are invited to walk through the grounds and fill your pages with sketches, collaged leaves and any exciting natural fallen petals you discover.
There will also be an instant camera, a range of old-school letter stamps, and a typewriter, so that you can capture your day's events in a truly analogue fashion for the perfect digital detox with your family.
Other activities include
- Best Kept Secrets discovery challenge, with chocolate prize, every day
- Creating hidden ultraviolet flower patterns, every day
- Tuesday – decorate a miniature jar with flower designs
- Wednesday – finger painted flower bookmark with wool tassel
- Thursday – tissue and felt flower mobiles
