About

Join Anna for a series of fun and inspiring classes where you will learn all you need to repair your clothes with confidence.

Top quality materials and tools included.

‍Thursday 7th May: Boro & Sashiko

The ancient Japanese tradition of preserving and using every last precious fibre to extend the life of clothes in a highly practical but very beautiful way. 'Boro' is the patching and 'sashiko' is the stitching (or "tiny stabs"!)

Thursday 14th May: Embroidery

Not just the domain of Victorian dames and damsels: embroidery enables us to 'draw and paint' with needle and thread, reinforcing wear and attaching new fabric to beloved old textiles with character. We'll cover a few of the essentials you need to get started, as well as tips and design transfer techniques.

Thursday 21st May: Applique Patch

We'll make an embroidered felt moth patch from hand-painted eco felt, wool and embroidery floss. Once you've mastered the basics, you can make custom patches for all sorts of things - I have a vintage wool coat covered with 56 moth patches and counting…

Thursday 4th June: English Darning

This traditional woven darn technique is as effective on denim and woven fabrics as it is on knitwear, and can be tweaked to suit whatever you're mending - no wonder it's so popular!

Thursday 11th June: Reverse Darning

Worked from the back through the purls of the knit, reverse darning is an incredibly strong technique that bonds your woven mend to the knitted basecloth right up to the area of damage, securing all the edges in the process. Super satisfying and ideal for mending areas that get heavy wear.

Thursday 18th June: Swiss Darning

Also known as Duplicate Stitch, this is the one to master if you want your knitwear repairs to be as IN-visible as possible. Even if you opt for neon however, it's good to know because it enables you to replicate the original the knit, so your mend can move and stretch exactly as the fabric it's repairing (unlike woven mends).

Pick and choose your classes or come to all 6 for a complete grounding in the basics of this infinitely useful skill!
