About

Bath Tennis Club to Host Wimbledon Weekend Strawberries and Cream Festival

Bath Tennis Club is delighted to extend an invitation to members, their families, and the local community to its Wimbledon Weekend Strawberries and Cream Festival on Sunday 6th July.

The festivities begin in the morning, exclusively for club members and their families. From noon onwards, the event opens to the wider community, offering an opportunity to explore the club, meet members, enjoy fun tennis activities, and watch the live Wimbledon broadcast from SW19.

Entry to the event is free with sign-up (subject to availability). A rolling BBQ will commence at 2 pm at a cost of £6 per person. Attendees can look forward to freshly-prepared PIMMS, strawberries with Devon cream, and home-made scones with jam and Cornish cream (jam first?). The club bar will remain open throughout the day, making it an ideal occasion for socialising with fellow tennis enthusiasts.

Bath Tennis Club, a not-for-profit community amateur sports club, has been a central part of Bath since 1880, offering tennis opportunities to players of all ages and skill levels. Recently, the club has invested £120,000 in facility upgrades, including the addition of four new hard courts, two Astro courts, and enhanced LED lighting. This open day serves as a celebration of these improvements and as a chance to welcome potential new members.

“Wimbledon is the UK’s iconic tennis tournament, and Bath Tennis Club has produced past champions since its founding in 1880. Many of us are secret Wimbledon Warriors," said Club Manager Andrew Kettle. “We are proud to offer a vibrant, inclusive space where people can connect through tennis and social events. This festival is another fantastic way to showcase the club’s friendly atmosphere, encourage new membership, and highlight the benefits of tennis for both physical and mental well-being.”

Whether a seasoned player or a curious beginner, everyone is welcome. Visitors are encouraged to come along, join in the fun, and discover why Bath Tennis Club is more than just a place to play – it’s a community.
