Sally Lunns Historic Eating House

While there is no gluten-free alternative available for the famous Sally Lunn bun (despite several attempts from the team), ‘no gluten’ scones and ‘no gluten’ cakes are available to have as part of an afternoon tea or snack. These baked goods do not contain gluten but are made in a bakery that uses flour so are not suitable for coeliacs.

Sweet Little Things

This cute tea room has a broad selection of gluten free sweet treats, including macarons and cupcakes, as well as brunch and pancakes. If you're planning on ordering an afternoon tea or grazing board, let the team know your dietary requirements ahead of time and they can advise on what GF substitutes are available. All food is created in a small kitchen where other dishes containing gluten are prepared, so they cannot guarantee there won’t be any cross contamination.

Heavenly Desserts

This popular dessert bar has plenty of dishes that are suitable for a gluten-sensitive diet on their menu, however they may not be entirely free of gluten due to being prepared around foods containing gluten. Choose from a selection of American waffles with fresh banana and toffee, pistachio and white chocolate or a selection of fruits. Check with the team about the latest gluten-free cakes, bakes and sundaes on offer too.

Flourish Kitchen

Most of the brunch menu at Flourish is naturally gluten free or has a GF option, including Full English breakfasts, shakshuka and breakfast ciabattas.

GF bread is available for sandwiches at lunch or to have with the soup of the day. They also have gluten free flatbreads and burger buns, and can do a gluten free version of their afternoon teas. Due to the nature of their open kitchen they cannot guarantee that the finished product will be entirely gluten free.

Newton Farm Shop and Cafe

Made without gluten dishes include ham, eggs and chips, 8oz Newton Farm rump steak, pulled pork bowl or battered haddock with chunky chips. Roast dinners and afternoon teas can also be made gluten free on request, and gluten free bread is also available.

'Made without Gluten' dishes on the menu do not contain gluten ingredients, however gluten is present in the kitchen so the team cannot guarantee total absence.

Hartham Park Estate Cafe 

Gluten free bread and alternatives are available on request at this cafe set in the beautiful surrounds of Hartham Park in Corsham.

Society Café

There are always a good range of gluten free cakes on the counter at Society Cafe, and with three locations dotted around Bath, you're never far from a GF treat to have with your cup of tea or coffee.

Nook

Their wholesome menu of breakfast bowls, poke bowls and smoothie bowls is entirely gluten free, so you won't even need to check when you arrive!

The Whole Bagel

This popular bagel shop has a dedicated preparation area for coeliacs and a separate toaster for gluten free bread to avoid cross contamination.

Picnic Coffee

This cafe near Walcot Street has a good selection of gluten free cakes, and the team are always happy to advise on GF options as well as make the effort to avoid contamination.

Cafe Lucca

Choose from a delicious range of gluten free cakes at this stylish cafe, with favourites including their apricot frangipane cake. Their panini fillings are available in a gluten free wrap, and it's always worth checking with the team about the latest GF alternatives on the menu.

The Green Rocket

This award-winning 100% vegan café is also almost entirely gluten free, and even the dishes that do contain gluten can be adapted. Breakfast options include Bubble and Squeak with onion jam and salsa verde, tropical banana, mango and pineapple smoothie bowl or homemade maple granola and yogurt. The all-day menu has GF options including paella arancini, oyster mushroom satay skewers, artichoke & seaweed fysh cake and potato & horseradish salad with tofu. If you have room for dessert, their apple, berry and lavender crumble is also gluten free.

The majority of LEON's menu is gluten free, including chicken nuggets, rice hot boxes, breakfast boxes, cakes and many other options. Gluten free and dairy free dishes are clearly marked on the menu.

The Pump Room Restaurant

The Regency Tea Rooms

Once you've had your fill of learning about Regency Bath and dressing up in period costume at the Jane Austen Centre, head to their in-house tea room for a traditoinal afternoon tea, complete with gluten free scones.

Homewood

The kitchen team need a minimum notice of 24 hours for all dietary requirements when preparing their afternoon teas, which you can enjoy in their stylish restaurant, out in the garden or in the alfresco dining domes.

A favourite for coeliacs and gluten-free diners in Bath, Dough has a choice of 12 pizza bases, including a choice of five different gluten-free bases (clasic, seaweed, turmeric, hemp and purple corn). The team are happy to talk you through their practices for avoiding cross-contamination.

Bath Pizza Co 

Gluten Free pizzas are made with dough from Venice Bakery and topped with ingredients that do not contain gluten. Ingredients are protected from cross-contamination by being stored in lidded containers that are cleaned daily. 

  • The Oven and The Stable in Kingsmead Square also offer a variety of gluten-free pizzas and take care to avoid cross-contamination when preparing and cooking their pizzas.

Pasta

Gluten free pasta is available on request, as well as gluten free cakes for dessert. The kitchen does prepare other dishes which contain gluten so cross contamination cannot always be avoided.

Ponte Vecchio

GF options are clearly labelled on the menu at this riverside restaurant, and the team are always happy to advise on dishes and kitchen practices if you have a coeliac in your group. Gluten-free options include risotto, most of their starters and most of their pasta mains (which can be swapped for a GF pasta).

The Scallop Shell 

There's the option of gluten free batter on your fish and chips at The Scallop Shell, however it cannot be guaranteed as coeliac safe. Please check with the team ahead of time or when you arrive for the allergy information on their latest specials.

Take your pick from a large selection of hot and cold gluten free mezze at this Turkish restaurant, with the added option of GF pitta bread.

Flute

You're never short of options at this relaxed seafood restaurant, whether you're coming in for brunch, lunch or dinner. Brunch options include Omelette Arnold Bennett, Clab Frumpet, toasted brioche or a bacon roll on GF bread. From their main menu you can take your pick from ceviche, soft shell crab, seared scallops, GF fish & chips and seared tuna, as well as sharing platters which are both naturally gluten free.

Pieminister

You can choose GF versions of the classic pies, including the Moo (beef steak & craft ale), Mooless Moo (Jackfruit ‘steak’, craft ale & black pepper), or the Free Ranger (Chicken, ham, leek & thyme). GF sides include halloumi chips, padron peppers or honey & mustard cocktail sausages.

The Mint Room

Bath's sophisticated Indian redstaurant has a dedicated menus for vegan and gluten free dishes, with options including onion bhajis, biryani, sweet potato koftas and much more.

Yak Yeti Yak

There is a full allergy list on the restaurant's website, and the team are happy to talk through their dishes and preparation methods. Their Nepalese momos are not GF, however many other starters and mains are.

Robun

The menu is clearly labelled with gluten free dishes as well as those with gluten free options available, such as sashimi, sushi, tempura and grilled dishes. They have a separate fryer for gluten free items to avoid cross contamination.

This French bistro in Milsom Place has dedicated gluten-free menus on its website, including a GF A La Carte, GF Breakfast and a GF Prix Fixe Menu. Salathai

Most of the mains at this charming Thai restaurant can be made gluten free and the team take great care when made aware of dietary requirements and allergies.

Turtle Bay

Dishes on the main which do not contain gluten include the jerk chicken, rum BBQ ribs, curry goat, curry chickpea & callaloo and the Seafood Soul Bowl. However, food is prepared in kitchens where gluten is present, so the team cannot guarantee that anything is 100% free of gluten.

Indian Temptation

Everything on the menu here is gluten free and vegetarian, with many vegan options too. Fill up on a range of Indian street food dishes, tandoori starters or dosas. Or try a range of menu items by ordering one of their thalis.

Jars Meze

Much of the menu at Jars Meze near Pulteney Bridge is naturally gluten free, from dips and starters such as stuffed vine leaves and baked aubergine, to stews, gyros and meat or veggie platters.

Ole Tapas

If you're in the mood for tapas, you'll have plenty of choice here, with it being a preferred choice for coeliacs in the city. GF options are labelled on the menu, but you can also ask the team for more information.

OAK

Most of the menu at this plantbased restaurant can also be made gluten free on request, with many dishes already marked as GF on the menu. Get their matching natural wine flight to compliment your meal.

Miller & Carter

The gluten free menu at Miller & Carter is accredited by the Coeliac Society, with diners able to choose any of their steaks and sauces, as well as a range of gluten free starters and desserts.

Opa Mezze Bar

This subterranean mezze bar is very happy to accomodate guests with dietary requirements, and can provide a separate GF menu if needed.

Dos Dedos

Everything on the menu at this hip Mexican restaurant is gluten free, from tacos to nachos. Make sure to visit on a Tuesday to get two portions of tacos for £14, or they also have a Happy Hour every day where you can get two of the same Margarita for £14.

Hudson Steakhouse 

Most of the menu at this award-winning steak restaurant is listed as gluten free, although there is a chance of cross contamination, so please check with the team when booking. You could have Buffalo mozzarella with heritage tomatoes or or smoked mackerel pâté with pickled cucumber, horseradish cream and dark rye to start, before choosing which of their steaks and sauces to have as your main.

The Coconut Tree

Most of the menu is labelled as gluten free, although they cannot always 100% guarantee that allergens will not be present. Take your pick from a range of delicious Sri Lankan dishes, including curries, egg hoppers, fried rices and desserts.

The pizzas at this pub can't be made gluten free, but they do have a selection of nibbles such as chicken wings or cheesy chips which are gluten free. They clearly label menu items which are free of gluten, but cannot guarantee that no cross contamination will occur in the kitchen.

Apex City of Bath Hotel
