Accessibility Information
Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein is situated in 37 Gay Street, a Grade II listed townhouse spread over four split-level floors. The main entrance has three steps, with no lift or ramp. There is level access from the main entrance to the ticket office and gift shop. There are steps from the main entrance to the basement, ground floor toilets, fire exit to the rear of the building, as well as the first, second, third and fourth floors.
The fire alarm has flashing lights and all staff have disability awareness training, with some also having BSL and Next Generation Text training.
Some parts of the venue have low lighting and foreboding audio and visual effects, so parents should use good judgment as to whether the attraction will be suitable for their children. The basement walk-through experience is unsuitable for those with asthma, photo-sensitivity or epilepsy, claustrophobia and heart conditions, and may also be unsuitable for those with a nervous disposition.
While Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein has made every possible permitted intervention to maximise physical access, regrettably, due to the historic layout and nature of the property, the attraction is currently unable to accept buggies, prams and wheelchairs.
The attraction offers complimentary Day Tickets for essential carers assisting someone with accessibility needs with a general admission ticket.
