About

Step into the scented past and uncover what the city of Bath might have smelt like in Jane Austen’s time.

Led by a perfume expert from locally based luxury brand Parterre Fragrances, this unique experience reveals the fascinating history of scent from the Roman era through to the Georgians and beyond.

Discover who wore perfume, how it was made, and explore an array of natural ingredients and oils as you journey through the world of fragrance.

The perfume workshop will take place in The Sheridan Suite at The Royal Crescent or at Parterre’s elegant perfumery, depending on numbers, and will last approximately one hour and twenty minutes.

As part of the workshop, you’ll design and blend your own simple signature scent to take home in a 10ml bottle.

After the session, sit back and enjoy a refined afternoon tea - complete with a nod to Jane Austen - served in The Library at The RCH...or the garden, weather permitting!
