The Royal Crescent 250

2017 marks 250 years since the first foundation stone was laid on the Royal Crescent, on 19th May 1767.

Today, the Royal Crescent is so much more than just a curved row of 30 terraced houses. This world-renowned icon is one of the most impressive representations of architectural innovation and imagination in Georgian Britain, and was one of the reasons why Bath was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1987.

Behind this historic façade lies the 5 star luxurious Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa, as well as No.1 Royal Crescent. This prestigious address has been converted into an immersive museum that perfectly depicts the life of its former wealthy Georgian residents and their servants, who resided downstairs.

Join us in a year-long celebration of 250 years of the Royal Crescent in Bath with a varied programme of events, trails, workshops, concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, and talks, hosted by No.1 Royal Crescent and other Bath Museums to commemorate this special anniversary.

Special events for the Royal Crescent’s 250th Anniversary

Don’t miss the special Foundation Stone Day Grand Parade on Sunday 21st May 2017, and the “Lives of the Georgians” public event on the lawns in front of the Royal Crescent on Saturday 29th July 2017.

There will be over 70 events taking place in Bath throughout 2017.

Find a list below of events that celebrate the architecture, social history and influence of this magnificent building…
